Gary Koops, Co-Founder, Shadwell GP

When Fortune 500 companies require global insights, communications expertise, and a deep understanding of how to connect with media and consumers, they have turned to Gary to gain the right footing and direction. He has served as a strategic advisor to C-Suite executives at some of the world’s most complex and influential organizations, including IBM, Ford Motor Company, Shell Oil, Target, Virginia Tech, Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, Altria, AIG, and Accenture.


Gary spent s spent more than 20 years as a managing director and chairman of the Global Media Practice at Burson-Marsteller (now BCW) and a member of the firm’s Global Leadership Team. While at Burson-Marsteller Gary oversaw the firm’s global media relations, training and content management offerings and services.  Gary has a deep expertise in media relations with long-standing relationships with many of nation’s publications, reporters and news anchors.

 

In addition to his unique skills in reputation management, Gary has advised and developed litigation communications strategies for some of the country’s most high-profile cases. From financial litigation to the tobacco wars, his strategies have provided for better outcomes and the stability of shareholder value.

 

His experience in politics is vast: Gary served as deputy director of communications for the Dole for President Campaign, where he managed the daily coordination of the campaign’s national communication plan and development of central campaign messages and organizing daily press briefings. He also has worked as press secretary and spokesman for the presidential campaign of United States Senator Phil Gramm, the Republican National Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Gary lives in New York City with his wife and two daughters.
