Monique Tapie, Co-Founder, Shadwell GP
For more than 20 years, Monique has been creating award-winning communications strategies for leading organizations that have required a range of approaches, from advocacy to litigation and crisis communications, to multicultural grassroots strategies and media relations.
Monique’s media relations and public affairs training ground came from working at Philip Morris USA in the media relations and public affairs departments for nearly ten years. Her work with The American Board of Physician Specialties, the American Association of Disaster Medicine, the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, Caesars Entertainment, ShelterPoint Life Insurance, and the U.S. Army has led to a string of successful strategies. Monique has paired her creative, impactful approach with vital influencer communications in some of the most challenging regulatory industries that include healthcare, managed care, gaming, tobacco and military. Monique’s extensive experience working in both the United States and Europe has led her to develop deep insights that have had a direct, beneficial impact on the agency’s clients.
Previously and from the date of its inception, Monique led communications for Gravity and helped to build the nation’s top multicultural agency within a few years. She went on to co-found Gravity’s sister Public Affairs agency Triomphant (TC). Just six years into the agencies’ global marketing and communications work, its success attracted the attention of the Dentsu Aegis Network, which acquired both agencies in 2017. Monique continued to lead both Gravity and TC until she left to establish Shadwell Global Partners with Gary Koops.
Monique’s work has garnered her numerous awards and most recently a Stevie Award for Best Multicultural Communications Campaign, and PR News has twice named her a finalist in the category of best CSR Communications. Monique’s views have appeared in Advertising Age, Brandweek, Inc. Magazine, L’Express of France, and The Washington Post, and she speaks frequently at conferences around the world.
Fluent in French and having grown up in an international household feeds Monique’s passion for and deep understanding of cultures and human behavior.
